Read Across America Week was a success!
HIghlights:
Our school raised $1226 for the Second Harvest Food Bank in the Paper Palace program. Way to go Coyotes!
Illustrator J.H. Everett visited on our school and shared his passion for drawing with all of our students! He proved you CAN have a passion for something and turn it into a career! Our students loved his book Izzy and the Candy Palace!
We had several guest readers throughout the week including: Donna Savely (Castille PTA President), Dustin (YMCA), Michelle Clark (Waste Mngmt), Allison Tran (MV Librarian), Rhonda Reardon (MV Mayor Pro Tem), Tim Smith (Geologist - and Mrs. Smith's son!), and Michelle Dunphy (Voice Actor). We thank each of them for spending time with us!
Students had the opportunity to read to therapy dogs. They even met "Husker," the MV Library's therapy dog.
Students read with their little/big buddies during the week. It is fun to share your love of reading with your buddies!
Finally, students dressed up as their favorite literary characters and celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday!
Throughout the week, students had opportunities to turn in reading logs and earn raffle tickets for some great prizes. Congratulations to all of the prize winners.
A special THANK YOU to PTA parent Sarah Schiefelbine and Mrs. Smith for putting together an enjoyable week of reading fun for our scholars! Can't wait for next year.
