The Castille 10 member 4th Grade Robotics Team called "The Gear Grinders" competed at the REC World Championships at the Anaheim Convention Center April 19th and 20th. Students from 24 countries were present to compete in various challenges with a robot that their teams designed. Castille students are amongst the youngest in the competition and participated as part of a pilot program with 70 other schools. The Gear Grinders recieved a CREATE award for the unique design of their counter balance system. They were the ONLY elementary team to win an award!! Congratulations to all of them!  We are so proud of our team coached by Mrs. Chapman and Mr. Evans and thank the team parent helpers for the many hours they have dedicated in helping keep the students on task and focused on their goals.

Congratulations to our 4^th and 5^th Grade Math Teams for doing Castille proud on Saturday at the O.C. Math Field Day Competition. There were 49 schools from across O.C. competing in this all day event. Both grade levels joined forces to compete in the Rubik’s Cube Challenge and came in 2^nd place! That is incredible! They were able to solve 11 cubes in 3 minutes and 6 seconds – now THAT is really something!! The 4^th Grade team was also successful in bringing home 3 first place wins in the following categories: Data Analysis, Number and Operations, and Algebraic Thinking. What a spectacular day for them J Additionally, Castille’s button design was chosen as the field day logo! Thanks to Coaches Cori Giacchino and Shonna Josephson, as well as the support of the parents in helping make this happen for our kids.
